360-Degree Service for Women's European Handball Championship in Austria: Vienna and Innsbruck in the Spotlight

Innsbruck/Vienna – In December 2024, PRG delivered an impressive 360-degree production for the Women's European Handball Championship in Austria at the venues Innsbruck and Vienna. Commissioned by the Austrian Handball Federation, state-of-the-art technology was employed to captivate both in-arena spectators and television audiences.

The unique demands of handball, such as the large playing area and potential floor reflections, presented the production team with exciting challenges. "Compared to sports like gymnastics or table tennis, we have to illuminate a significantly larger area," explains Jannika Petersen, Head of Technology Lighting at PRG.

Despite the complexity, the team successfully met the stringent requirements of the EHF (European Handball Federation) while creating optimal conditions for athletes, spectators, and camera shots. LED technology played a particularly pivotal role. The powerful ArenaLED1 Touring and ArenaLED3 from GLP not only generated the necessary white light on the court but also enabled flexible effects for the audience and show elements. "We also use the lamps for colored light effects during the award ceremony to make the moment even more festive," Petersen continues.

The successful collaboration with the Austrian Handball Federation has thus been deepened: "As in 2020, the implementation was very, very good," confirms Christoph Joklik, CEO of ÖHB Marketing GmbH. With this successful production, Austria has once again proven to be a reliable host for international sporting events.
